Callaway, VA – The 2024 season is about to kick off at Franklin County Speedway but the opener will have to wait a few more weeks until Saturday, March 30th.
The Teddy’s Water Hauling WinterThaw will be slightly warmer with a 4-week shift from March 2nd to March 30th due to ongoing work at the track including some renovations to improve the facility for the fans, drivers, and staff.
“Despite some decent weather conditions over the last few weeks, we just seem to be falling further behind schedule on getting this place ready for the upcoming season,” track promoter Langley Austin explained. “We’ve taken on a couple of big projects this offseason and to make sure we’re where we need to be we’re going to hold off until March 30th to drop that first green flag.”
The shift in opening dates allows the season opener to become an even bigger event. All the classes running on March 2nd will shift to March 30th and be joined by even more racing. The Carolina Mini Stock Challenge Series, the Virginia Vintage Racers and a first-ever Super Truck race will take place along with the local Late Models, Legends and Stock4 divisions.
Teddy’s Water Hauling WinterThaw on Saturday, March 30th will kick off the 56th season of racing on the World’s Fastest 3/8 mile in a big way. Tickets for the season opener are just $20 for adults, $5 for youths 5-12 and under five years old is admitted free of charge.
